Common questions

Is a community college the same as a vocational college in China?
No. Transfer courses at a California community college are the first two years of a bachelor's degree, and they transfer course by course to UC through ASSIST. The degree the student graduates with is issued by UC.
Does my child need to move to the U.S.?
Not for the community college stage. Courses are taken online, and UC does not treat online transfer courses differently. The student moves to the UC campus for the last two years.
Can students still attend school in China?
Yes. Many students keep their current enrollment and take community college courses alongside it.
Is admission guaranteed?
Six UC campuses offer a Transfer Admission Guarantee. Students who complete the required courses and reach the campus GPA threshold (3.0–3.4) are guaranteed admission to that campus. UCLA and Berkeley do not offer TAG.
